Myself and my lovely friend Cheryl of Cheryl Fitzgerald Photography were asked to take the photographs at 'our children's nursery; which is within Grange Primary, Monifieth and of course we obliged. We were blessed with a beautiful warm summer day which was lucky for me as I love to work outdoors using natural light.
Now we would be lying if we were to say it was not a challenge, Cheryl and I are used to having 30-60 mins with each child but we were very limited for time, we did however manage to have a fun filled day with lots of giggling and funny faces and that was just from me! :-)
(Permission has been given by all parents of children featured in this blog post)
I offered an outdoor shoot for the children which gave the parents something a little different to choose from. I used only natural light and let the children pick from a few different poses, lots of them loved this pose sitting on the picnic table, although I felt a bit naughty putting them there, I did ask permission first!
It really was not until I took on this task that I realised what a happy group of children they are, their teachers are the best in town, so patient, firm but fair at the same time, the children were smiling all day, I can honestly say I never saw one upset child the whole day, Grange Nursery staff truly are giving the children an amazing experience during these precious years before beginning BIG school (as my daughter Emily calls it).
Grange Nursery was a saviour for me, my daughter Emily was a very shy little girl, we had originally placed Emily into a private nursery where she did not settle at all. I was very apprehensive about her starting Nursery at Grange but I was absolutely amazed at how quickly she settled in and now one year on she is a completely different child, full of confidence and always happy and eager to get to school, in fact she was actually disappointed to learn that the nursery is now closed for 7 weeks.
